One month with sweet Will

We have survived the first month of 2 under 2!  This is a huge milestone and we can feel life returning to some form of normal (barely).  We half forgot and half suppressed what it is like to have a newborn.  Late night feeds, crying between 5-10pm, and the constant dirty diaper changing have left us fatigued.  But we wouldn't change it for the world.  Will loves to explore with his eyes and he makes the sweetest cooing noises.  We are looking froward to the next month when we get a peak at his smile.

We were lucky to have Mimo and Boppy here for over a week.  They helped us keep our house neat, to make us meals, hold Will, and most importantly to give lots of love to the best big sister in the world.  Charlie and Boppy continued to connect through playing trains and legos.  Mimo won her heart by taking to her to the library and to the mall train (aka the petri dish).

Our days are much different than before.  We try to grab sleep where we can and find ways to tire our toddler out.  As the fog begins to lift, we are eternally grateful for all the people who have helped us through this transition.  Our family and friends have been there with meals to keep our bellies full, to hold Will when our arms are tired, and to love Charlie when she feels jealous.  We are so thankful. Looking forward to Ben and Cheryl's visit this coming week!

William Covelli Metcalf

What a spectacular Christmas gift... the birth of our son William Covelli Metcalf.  We knew he was about to come into the world on Christmas morning, but it wasn't until December 26th at 2:53 am that he arrived in our arms.

On the 25th, we woke up and had a relaxing morning with Charlie opening presents and eating pancakes.  Around noon we knew that William might be arriving.  We brought Charlie over to the Massey's house to enjoy holiday celebrations with Ophelia and Moana and we got to work with Creisse (our Doula) trying to encourage labor.  After several hours, lots of stair climbs, and a nap we checked into St. Patricks Hospital.  A few hours later William made an appearance.

7lbs 13 oz and 19.5 inches long.  All are healthy and happy.  We are home now enjoying each other, loving each other, and just basking in all of William's cuteness.  Charlie loves him and gives him lots of hugs.
